Generations of Scouts.
Pennington’s first Scout troop began in 1915. Troop 41’s uninterrupted chapter began on December 1, 1944.
Scouting comes to Pennington.
The first local troop registered directly with the national organization, without a troop number. Early registrations lapsed and restarted; this was the beginning of local Scouting, rather than an unbroken charter.
The start of a continuous chapter.
Troop 41 rechartered on December 1, sponsored by the Pennington School for Boys. Scouts used the school’s gym and pool, including for Red Cross swimming instruction.
A home at the Scout Hut.
After the Lions Club became the sponsor in 1952, the troop moved into its Reading Avenue building in 1957. Volunteers built the Scout Hut, which later became the Senior Center.
A neckerchief tied to the borough.
The troop marked 50 years since its recharter with a neckerchief design based on the stars in Pennington’s borough flag.
Washington Crossing Council.
Following the troop’s 2014 transfer to Bucks County Council, the council took the Washington Crossing name in 2015.
Based on the troop’s written history, updated February 2025. The current annual program names the American Legion Auxiliary as the troop’s charter organization.
